Re-evaluation of the Netherlands long-term climate targets
This report shows that the formulation and articulation of long-term climate change con-trol targets is still very much like finding one?s way through thick fog. Much is still un-clear and the risk of taking the wrong turn is ever present. The Netherlands have a strong interest in following the right course to climate change stabilisation, simply because of its geographical location and vulnerability. This report underlines this fact. Undoubtedly, the scientific results presented here merely constitute a first step. There is a need for further research, together with the international scientific community, in order to better grasp the environmental boundaries of our actions and the impacts of greenhouse gas emissions, and to further develop and shape the process and contents of the Netherlands? climate policy. The irreversible nature of the problem obliges us to do so.
