The year 2005 is an important milestone in the implementation of the Water Framework Directive. In March of this year, the so-called "article 5 reports" should be submitted, that consist of a profound analysis of the condition of the European water systems and the pressures threatening them. The Water Directors decided to obtain this information via a questionnaire to the European countries.
