Future for water
The DAO project has involved the conduct of a large number of analyses regarding possible future developments in water management policy. The results can be used as building blocks for the Fourth National Policy Document (PDW4). The basis for the DAO exploration is an analysis of the impacts of measures adopted under current policy. This analysis identified the problems currently occurring and the opportunities existing in the present situation and in the period up to 2015. This involved an evaluation in terms of the goals and target situations formulated in PDW3, the Water Policy Evaluation Document (WPE) and other central government policy documents. After this, the next step was an analysis of possible additional measures, including not only measures to improve the quality of the water systems but also water management measures which could be taken to promote the development of human use functions.
