Farming without harming : the impact of agricultural pollution on water systems fifth scientific and technical review
Water and food are both basic resources for the European community. However, in a large part of Europe agricultural practices are not compatible with maintaining good water quality resources. Water reserves are depleted for irrigation, in many cases water quality is regarded as being of secondary importance to agricultural interests and pollution from nutrients and pesticides damages the aquatic environment.
