Archimedes Project : remote sensing of oil spills : North Sea experiment October 1983
The primary scope of the experiment was to test the general ability of different remote sensing instruments to detect, classify, and quantify oil spills on the sea surface and submerged oil. This test was a continuation of earlier experiments under perfect weather conditions. Therefore this forthcoming experiment has been designed to assess the problem of operations in realistic weather conditions, which must be foreseen to be the normal. The experiments were carried out in October 1983 on the Dutch Continental Shelf.
