Effects of urbanization on the watermanagement of the Netherlands, particularly on the runoff in polderareas
The peculiar situation of the Netherlands in the delta of the Rhine, Meuse and Scheldt causes an amount of problems in the field of watermanagement, waterquality etc. After a short description of some of them particular attention is paid to the drainage and drainagerequirements of polderareas with various, urban and rural destinations. The hydrological effects of the heavy rainstorms on 1, 2 and 3 August 1972 in Eastern Flevoland are discussed for the different kinds of land use.
