Evaluation of the environmental impacts of land reclamation on the Malacca coastal area
Contains the findings, conclusions and recommendations of the mission to discuss draft terms of reference for a masterplan study on the impact of the land reclamation projects on the Malacca coastal area of Malaysia. It starts with a general review of the present situation, followed by a brief review of ongoing and proposed developments. This inventory is followed by a general analyses of the potentials, weaknesses and problems related to the land reclamation projects. Based on this analyses recommendations are formulated related to the terms of reference of the proposed masterplan. In addition some recommendations are given for the content of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports for individual consessions as well as general recommendations for the set up of monitoring programmes related to the land reclamation projects.
