Morphodynamic modelling for a tidal inlet in the Wadden Sea : 'het Friesche Zeegat'
The main purpose of the study is to obtain a better understanding of the morphological system in tidal inlets, rather than to make specific predictions of the morphological development in a particular tidal inlet. Therefore the model will work with a schematised geometry and bathymetry of one particular inlet. A morphodynamic model for "Het Friesche Zeegat", a tidal inlet system in the Wadden Sea, is developed as a pilot model. Since 1969, this tidal inlet system, with an area of about 450 square km, has undergone significant morphological changes due to closure of the Lauwerszee.
