Sustainable use of groundwater : problems and threats in the European Communities

In all the EC countries current practices lead to non-sustainable use of groundwatersystems. The main problem areas are found in the agricultural and industrial core regions of the EC. The scale and complexity of the problem varies per region. This report provides an inventory of the actual threat to the groundwatersystems in the EC and deals with the following aspects, pollution by industry, agriculture and urban areas and man-made changes in groundwaterlevels and flows.
