Acoustic detection of phytoplankton : a pre-feasibility study
Presented is a preliminary inquiry into the possibilities of acoustic attenuation and scattering spectroscopy for the detection of phytoplankton. Measurements were performed in a laboratory set-up, optimized for sediment particles. Estimations of the expected realizable detection limits, for a system optimized for phytoplankton detection, are given.
