Planning and creation of an environment in the Volga Delta : sustainable use of the Tishkovo Area in spite of the Caspian sea level rise#mission report October 1994
In March 1994 a study tour was organized for scientists and technologists from Russia. These visitors expressed their need for Dutch assistance in the field of sustainable use of Volga Delta area near Astrakhan in spite of the Caspian Sea level rise. The report contains the findings of the mission. Contents: a general overview of the Astrakhan Region; the specific problems in the Tishkova region; the geo(morpho)logy, geohydrology, soils and relation to vegetation; information and data about the Tishkova region; the research programs for AGVH, CNRR and AMRR; the assessment of the plans for the proposal Tishkova regional centre; proposals for the ecological research; some recommendations for the follow-up of this project; recommendations and conclusions of the mission.
