The three entrances of the Venetian lagoon will be equipped with a flood barrier to protect the city of Venice during periods of high water in the northern part of the Adriatic Sea. In order to prevent a great hindrance for navigation during operational periods of the barrier, three locks are forseen, situated next to each of the three barriers in Lido, Malamocco and the Choggia inlets.
