Assessment of eutrophication and its effects in marine waters
This paper highlights the results of the assessment of eutrophication and its effects in marine waters. An overall eutrophication effect scheme, summarizing direct and subsequent (indirect) effects of eutrophication in conjunction with meteorological and hydrographical conditions, forms the frame of the assessment. The areas considered are Channel, North Sea, Skagerrak and Kattegat. Results of ongoing Dutch studies on the predicted effects of reduction measures are also addressed.
