The MEPLAN-LM system applied to the Amsterdam region : zoning system and model structure
The MEPLAN-LM project deals with the integration of two model systems: the Dutch National Traffic Model (LMS = Landelijk Model Systeem) of the Dienst Verkeerskunde (DVK), developed by Hague Consulting Group ; and the land use part of the MEPLAN system of Marcial Echenique& Partners from Cambridge. The purpose of this integration is to extend the LMS with land use capabilities. The integrated model thus can be used to predict the land use consequences of developments in the field of transportation. Furthermore it can be used to assess the effects of developments in transportation on land use. Such predictions can be the result of a number of land use-transportation interactions. The integrated model is applied to Amsterdam and its surroundings in order to test the feasibility of integration, to gain insight in the interactions and to demonstrate opportunities for future use. In this report the model structure and the zoning system are presented.
