International comparison of forecasts

Information is provided on traffic and transport forecasts in selected European countries and in the European Union. This information has been compared with the Netherlands. Questions asked are: which traffic forecasts are being produced and by whom and how often, what is their status and are they publicly available, what model types form the basis for the forecasts and what major assumptions are used? Countries and institutions included in the review are: Netherlands, Germany (Nordrhein-Westfalen, Baden-Württemberg, Hamburg), France (Alsace), Great Britain, Belgium (Flanders, Brussels -Capital Region), Sweden, Austria, European Union, ECMT, OICA and IEA. The main findings of the project are presented in the main report. The appendices volume contains more detailed information on forecasting procedures and characteristics on a country by country basis, as gathered in the course of the project.
