Aquatic toxicity of aromatic nitro compounds and anilines to several freshwater species
Toxicity of 16 aromatic compounds and 17 alkyl- and chlorocinilmes was determined in tests with guppies, zebrafish, waterflea, green algae and bacteria. Toxic effects of aromatic nitro compounds were observed at ppm-level. quantative structure-activity relations (QSAR s) were drawn up for the various test species. The n-octanol/ water partition coefficient and the Hammett sigma constants appeared to be good descriptions for toxicity.
