Data assimilation with altimetry techniques used in a tidal model, 2nd program : DATUM 2
This report describes the results of the project DATUM 2, in which the feasibility is studied of improving water level and storm surge forecasting by incorporating information from satellite altimeter data into a hydrodynamic model. Altimeter data received from the satellites are selected and converted, so that they can be used as tide gauge data. To study the value of this methode and to evaluate the existing tide gauge network the Kalman filter is used to assimilate altimeter data for on-line use.
