Stated preference analysis for rekening rijden
A detailed stated preference study has been undertaken in order to assess the likely effects of road pricing (rekening rijden) on travel on the Rijkswegen in the Randstad. After group discussions and in-depth interviews, a stated preference (SP) experiment with self-completion questionnaires was designed to allow motorists/respondents to made a trade-off between travel cost, journey duration, time of travel and mode of transport. Pilot surveys, main surveys, data processing and checking procedures are described. In order to adjust the SP sample to the total population of Rijkswegen travellers, expansion factors were calculated. The correction for bias and the three stages of expansion factors (final SP sample to sample of acceptable first-stage returns to first-stage sample to Rijkswegen travellers) are explained. Also the model calibration work is set out.
