Sensitivity analysis vertical ship motions : final report
Results of a sensitivity analysis of the vertical motions of large draft vessels in shallow water, varying ship and environmental parameters. First, a general review of the background of the study is given. Second, the theory of vertical ship motions in shallow water is shortly described, and the information available from literature and previous research is summarized. Based on this summary, some extra variations in ship- and environmental parameters are selected for further numerical analysis with MARIN's diffraction program DIFFRAC (results are given in a seperate data report). Selected are a 275,000 tDWT bulk carrier and a 500,000 TDWT tanker. In chapter 6 a final evaluation is given of the effect of several ship and environmental parameters on the maximum vertical ship motions.
