Literature survey to wave impacts on dike slopes ; Report on desk study July 1990

Summarizes the present knowledge about wave impacts on dike slopes. The nature and scope of wave impacts on slopes is addressed. A review is given of mathematical-physical modelling attempts of wave impacts pressures. Results are presented of measurements of wave impact pressures, in laboratory experiments and in field experiments. Relations are given between characteristics of the incident wave field and characteristics of the wave impact pressures. Scale effects of wave impacts are discussed.
