Design report of the three NOURTEC test sites : Innovative nourishment techniques evaluation
This report describes the engineering design of the three nourishment projects that are part of the Nourtec study. The Danish project is located on the Danish west coast near the town of Thorsminde. The German project covers the northwest coast of the island of Norderney. The Dutch nourishment is at the north coast of the island of Terschelling. The coast at each of the project locations is subject to rather severe erosion, ranging from 15-25 m3/m/year at Norderney and Terschelling to almost 90 m3/m/year at Thorsminde. To combat the erosion, beach nourishment, shoreface nourishment or a combination thereof is applied.
