Almere new town : the Dutch polder experience : city for people by people

Almere will be developed during the last quarter of the twentieth century in the Netherlands, on the verge of the crowded old Randstad Holland and a huge empty polder. Its main function will be to catch the overspill from Amsterdam and to become a self-contained, relatively independent town-district for a maximum of about 250000 people. Contents: Almere, new link in the Zuyderzeeproject ; The setting in time and space; The social scene; The physical structure; The first results.
