Retail logistics : deliverable 1: work plan

Starting point of this study is that possible development paths for the retail industry in the Netherlands can be derived from developments in retailing in other countries, especially from the logistic strategies of large retailing companies in the United Kingdom, France and Germany. This research project is divided into four steps: Step 1-Definition of an analytical framework for the national studies to the retail industries. Step 2-National studies, monographs: market overview and the forces for change, strategies, structures of large retailers and its effects in the UK, Germany and France as well as the present Dutch situation. Step 3-Functional relationships between drivers, enablers and barriers (input variables) and their effects in terms of mobillity, the environment and energy saving (output variables). Step 4-Workshop in order to evaluate the findings from step 1, 2 and 3.
