Experiments in a 1:10 scaled road traffic ventilation test facility and comparison with theory
In a 1:10 scaled facility for road-tunnel ventilation tests a jet fan model is placed at the tunnel centre-line and experiments are made with various settings of the jet fan and the tunnel velocity. Extensive pressure and velocity measurements are made and the fan-thrust force is also measured. The aim is to gain confidence in the measurement technique by checking the axial momentum balance for the flow in a tunnel segment that contains a jet-fan model. Results are alalysed in detail and compared with a theoretical model for longitudinal tunnel ventilation.
