Sediment transport pathways in the Vliestroom tidal basin of the Waddenzee

This fourth project undertaken by GeoSea Consulting aims to (1) use the grain-size distributions from approx. 1500 sediment samples to establish the net sediment transport pathways over the Vliestroom tidal basin ; (2) establish specific "transport environments" as determined by sediment type; net erosion, dynamic equilibrium or net accretion; and whether sediment is fining or coarsening in the direction of transport ; (3) discuss the implications of the findings with respect to navigation channels, dredging activities, undesirable erosion or accretion problems, and coastal stability.
