Oil-water separator in a barge. - Part 2
The aim of this report was to investigate the possibilities of an oil-water separator constructed of some storage tanks in a seaworthy barge. A literature study of oil-water separation was made and calculations were carried out. The results indicated that a barge used as an oil combatting unit with an oilsweeping arm has many advantages such as a large storage capacity, an increased sweeping path and low costs. The separator can be constructed either as a continue or as a batch separator. Possible designs and procedures are given for a continue as well as for a batch separator. A batch separator constructed of some storage tanks has compared with a continue separator more advantages. In this view preference are given to a batch separator.
