SATMAP/ASTMAP Promote/Produce

The relatively high price of remote sensing products, such as satellite imagery and products from airborne sensors, is a limiting factor in the use and commercial acceptance of these remote sensing products. The goal of this project is to offer standard map products derived from remote sensing sensors from a specific area, in this case The Netherlands. The idea is to spread the costs of purchase and production among the users, thus allowing a lower, more affordable price. SATMAP is the term for map material derived from satelillite imagery. ASPMAP stands for Airborne Sensor Product map material. In both cases the raw scenes are being geometrically corrected, geo-referenced and transformed into the Dutch projection system, RD. Various data sets can be added to the image maps, e.g. vector information from different sources like post code boundaries, road maps, thematic information such as land use, statistical data, etc. Describes phase I of the project.
