Inter-urban traffic management in AVB and KAREN : AVB-KAREN compliance check and an AVB example system in KAREN style
Parallel to the development of the KAREN architecture, in the Netherlands the AVB (Architectuur voor Verkeersbeheersing) has been developed. In this report two different aspects are addressed concerning the relation between AVB and KAREN. AVB concentrates on inter-urban traffic management, which is just a part of one of the eight functional areas of KAREN. Nonetheless, especially in the case of inter-urban traffic, compatibility of the two architectures is needed, because of the basic international nature of such traffic. This report contains the results of the check whether the AVB architecture is compliant with KAREN and concludes that the AVB is indeed basically compliant with the KAREN results. This report also describes the AVB architecture as an example system in KAREN style.
