Bed behaviour and sand concentration under oscillatory water motion : report on model investigation
In a wide survey over the operating range of the wave tunnel of the Delft Hydraulics Laboratory various aspects of the influence of oscillatory water motion on a sand bed have been investigated. Although a complete description of all phenomena will not be given, a large number is presented and discussed. The report provides some insight into general trends in bed behaviour, ripple characteristics, concentration profiles and some dynamic aspects as a result of the water motion and the characteristics of the sand. Both the use of the wavetunnel and the sinusoidal nature of the water motion give restrictions on the general applicability of the present results. Apart from an analytical description of the measurement results, also their dpecific validity regions are indicated.
