Manual FSCONGAS version 2.1 : a program to simulate consolidation of gassy sludge

FSCONGAS is a computer program to simulate the consolidation behaviour of gassy soils, where large deformations can be expected, e.g. for dredged sludge. This manual describes the processes involved, finite strain consolidation theory and how to operate the computer program. Version 2.1 of the program enables the modeller to interactively define boundary conditions, soil characteristics, using a parameter database, deposition and consolidation scenarios. Graphical output provides profiles at specified moments in time, tracking of conditions in time at specified nodes or levels, as well as sludge levels, water levels and discharges. Thus FSCONGAS is a powerful tool to support design and monitoring of dredged material disposal sites.
