Sand waves and pipelines
During the last years the interest in the behaviour of sand waves has grown and resulted in a number of studies which presently being carried out, or are planned to be executed soon. This report briefly presents the most relevant projects and the results of a study to evaluate the effect of migrating sand waves on a submarine pipeline. The results of a study to evaluate the feasibility of using the existing SUTRENCH model to predict the seabed variations, or sand wave migrations, in the Eurochannel, are also presented. Contains a brief description of sand waves and a description of the modifications carried out on the SUTRENCH model to enable a more accurate representation of the sandwave boundary conditions. The calibration trials and findings of the study are also described.
