The structure of travel demands in the Netherlands
Estimates a Dutch travel demand model and used it to simulate the effects of alternative pricing policies on the demand for various modes of passengers transportation. The results of the hypotheses tests concerning the structure of consumer preference leads to the following conclusions : a) The consumer preference for travel mode choice is not separatable from the choice behaviour of other goods and services; b) the consumer preference and thus the demands for travel modes change over time and across seasons; c) the average number of working hours per week (and thus the amount of disposable time available to consumer) influences preference for travel mode choice.
