The Oosterschelde project : present dam construction in the Netherlands : construction actuelle de digues aux Pays-Bas
This General Paper deals with the construction of the Oosterschelde Barrier, which is the final and most challenging structure of the Delta Plan. The main purpose of the Delta Plan is to protect the Netherlands against storm surges. This paper discusses some aspects encountered in the design and execution of the Oosterschelde project. The aspects treated f.i. the probabilistic approach to the design, the study of the environmental impacts and the research on soil-structure interaction under static and cyclic loads.
