Project WIM-Hand : 2nd interim report : English version : results of the second stage of the project Weigh-In-Motion for direct enforcement
Contains the second interim report of the Project WIM-Hand, commissioned by the Directorate-General for Freight Transport in the framework of the project ?Overloading?, by the Road and Hydraulic Engineering Institute of the Public Works and Water Management Department (Dienst Weg- en Waterbouwkunde van Rijkswaterstaat - DWW). This project investigates whether it is possible with the existing technology to build an axle load measuring system that can be used for automatic enforcement of overloading of heavy freight vehicles. To bridge the time until automatic enforcement is possible, DWW has installed six operational WIM-VID systems in the sister project WIM-NL. After acceptance of WIM systems for automatic enforcement, these WIM-VID systems are intended to be upgraded to WIM-Hand systems. This second interim report describes the results of the second stage of the project and is a sequel to the first interim report [van Loo, 2001]. This report lays down the results of the project so far, as conclusion of the WIM-Hand project. In addition, the two reports are the basis for the subsequent project WIM-Hand-2.
