Pesticides : an analysis of the issues pertaining to aquatic environments

This policy document provides an analysis of issues pertaining to pesticides in aquatic environments in the Netherlands. The level of occurrence of agricultural pesticides in aquatic systems in relation to their use is described, along with the national policy on pesticides and their authorization. In addition, problem areas encountered with respect to the monitoring and risk assessment of pesticides are also indicated. This policy document was drawn up as part of the Aquatic Outlook project (WSV) of the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management. This project forms the basis for evaluating the policy set out in the Third National Policy Document on Water Management and for preparing the Fourth National Policy Document on Water Management in the Netherlands.
