Flood defences act : policy creating space for the river

The Dutch "Flood defences act" (Wet op de waterkering) and the policy document "Creating room for the river" (Ruimte voor de rivier) were published in 1995. Both documents explain how protection against high water has been organized in the Netherlands. Particularly since the flooding in 1995, international discussions concerning protection against high water have taken on a new urgency.
