ROSES : Road Safety Enhancement System#getting a grip on the elements
The ROSES (ROad Safety Enhancement System) project is aimed at the improvement of interurban traffic safety under conditions of adverse road and weather by means of a fully integrated safety monitoring system. The system provides drivers with information, warnings, and support. It also supplies information for more adequate traffic management and winter maintenance decisions by the availability of local road and weather data. The following papers are presented: A comprehensive approach of traffic safety in adverse weather and road conditions / A.P. de Vos; ROSES central monitoring system / W.F.M. van der Heijden, R. Haandrikman; Preview driving and driver interface in the ATT DRIVE II project ROSES / M.J. Andrews; Driving behaviour under adverse visibility conditions / J. Hogema and R. van der Horst; ROSES site B design / WS Atkins Consultants; The ice warning system of the Dutch Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management, Winter maintenance on porous asphalt, Economic benefits of meteorological services to land transport in the Netherlands / M. Noort (RWS, DWW).
