Dynamic traffic management in the Netherlands

The first part of this report deals with the strategy for dynamic traffic management in the Netherlands : what are traffic management priorities, what is dynamic traffic management (DTM), what are DTM tools? It gives a strategy for ATT (advanced transport telematics) implementation, and a future outlook of DTM. The second part gives an overview of existing and planned ATT-systems implementation and related pilots : monitoring systems (Motorway Control and Signalling System MCSS, Monitoring System, emergency systems), road-side based systems (signalling, ramp metering, variable message signs, fog detection and warning systems, urban traffic control systems, parking management systems), priority measures (eg high occupancy vehicle lanes HOV, heavy goods vehicle lanes, public transport vehicle lanes), in-vehicle systems (road traffic broadcast services, radio data system - traffic message channel RDS-TMC, dynamic route guidance and travel information systems for drivers), travel information systems, and road pricing.
