Landscape ecology mapping of the Tishkovo - tryokhizbinsky area (Volga Delta) : sustainable use of the Tiskovo Area in spite of Caspian sea level rise

By means of a Landsat TM satellite image of 1989 a team of Russian and Dutch specialists has carried out a landscape ecology mapping of a part of the Volga Delta: the Tishkovo - Tryokhizbinsky area. During field work in 1995 data on landform, vegetation, soil, flooding regime and salinization degree have been recorded. Nine classes are distinguished on the final map. The project is a part of an ecohydrological research concerning the ecological development following the changes in natural environmental conditions due to rise of the Caspian Sea level.
