Ultrasonic velocity measurements to detect fissures in rock blocks
Summarizes the work done on the detection of hidden fissures in rock blocks intended for coastal armouring structures here by the principles of simple acoustic methods to detect these fissures are described. Both the French method, the index of continuity developed by LCPC (Liaison des Laboratoires des Ponts et Chaussées), and the Delft normalised velocity distribution method are described and a comparison is drawn between both.
