Collection and processing historic data
START stands for Simulation of Traffic for Application in Real-Time. The general objective of the START project is to develop a practical tool to predict traffic flows and travel times in real-time using the information provided by the On-line traffic monitoring system together with historic and network information. This report describes the method used to obtain historic OD matrices from the Landelijk Model (LMS), and preparation of the motorway network. In chapter 2 the network issues are discussed. In chapter 3 the extraction procedures are described. In chapter 4 the results are discussed. In chapter 5 a conclusion is presented regarding the extraction of historic data. Chapter 6 gives results and chapter 7 considers turning fractions. The bibliography is in chapter 8. Chapter 9 contains several appendices with plots of the intermediate results, by which the quality of the extraction of the EE matrix can be visualised.
