Rijkswaterstaat, directorate's Noordzee, Zuid-Holland, Noord-Holland Zeeland and the Port of Rotterdam financed the NAUTILUS-project. In this project an operational knowledge system is developed for the growing need for operational and reliable hydrodynamic information.   The research and building of this system is performed by the National Institute for Coastal and Marine Management/RIKZ.   On this page several animation's as produced with the Dutch Continental Shelf Model (DCSM98) are shown. This model is used for storm surge forecasting and to produce boundary conditions for more detailed models of North Sea and Dutch estuaries. As an illustration a simulated period of February 1989 is reproduced: |

A 3D animation of the astronomical tide in DCSM giving the tide cycle of one period.   A 3D animation of the total effect of storm and tide.   And a 3D animation of the effect of storm surge only. Of this surge also a 2D animation is available. |
